Pedigree Generator FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

The Pedigree generator is a free service. We do not provide email support or instructions for putting the page generated on your web site. That's up to you to figure out (good luck!).
1. What if I don't receive the email?
The pedigree generator sends out the email immediately. We have found that it can often be trapped by spam or virus software. The names of dogs will often times cause this problem. If you don't receive our email, review your spam/virus software and if you still can't find it, then something between our server and your mailbox is keeping you from receiving the email. In that case, you'll need to use the "Check here to see the actual pedigree" option. You can then use your browser's file, save feature to save the web page to your computer and then email to others (or yourself) as an attachment from your own computer.
2. How do I put the pedigree on my web page?
There are so many different ways to do this that we do not provide individual support for adding a pedigree page to your web site. We suggest you check with friends and/or the support of the organization that is hosting your web site.
3. I created a pedigree and now when I come back to your site I can't find it.
We do not store the pedigrees on our web site (we're working on doing that too). You cannot come back to our site and find your pedigree. If you pushed the "Email my pedigree to me" button then the pedigree was sent to you as an attachment to your email. If you didn't do that then, well, you'll need to recreate your pedigree.

4. What does a pedigree look like?
Create a test pedigree to see how it will look. Just type in the "required" information and press "Build my pedigree". You don't have to type in all the other information just to try it out.

5. How do I access the HTML that it creates?
You can get the HTML for your web site several ways.

- If you have the pedigree emailed to you, it will arrive as an attachment to your email. Save this attachment on your computer. Then load it directly into your HTML editor to get to the HTML code.
OR
View the attachment in your browser. Then press "View, Source" from the Interent Explorer menu to see the HTML code.
OR
Once you "Build" your pedigree, go to the browser window with your pedigree in it and do "File" and then "Save" from the browser's menu (at least that's how Netscape and Internet Explorer do it). This will save the pedigree to your computer.
OR
Simply use the "Show me the HTML code" button and then Cut & Paste it from there.

6. My email doesn't understand the pedigree attachment or it doesn't show up.
If your email software can't handle attachments you have a couple of choices. One is to review question 4 above and save the pedigree using your browser. The other is to sign up for a free email account that does support attachments.
7. How can I show champions in color?
Our pedigree generator does not change colors for champions. You can do that via an HTML editor once your pedigree is created.
